Amazon

Amazon was one of the first major companies to sell goods over the internet. When amazon  first went on the market, it had no big rivals and there were not many players. Amazon was founded in 1994, and was finally launched online by 1995.

A kindle is an e-book reader which was launched in the United States. It offers subscriptions to magazines, newspapers and blogs.

The Kindle could revolutionise the book business because it is compact with as many books as you wish and  in just one machine.

Amazon.com has an easy navagation system. The layout of the website is suitable and convenient for the sellers and buyers.

Important factors that need to be considered when setting up an e-commerce sit include:

·          What goods and services are to be sold online?  

·          Are there any business partners to consider?

·          What price to charge?

·          How to present the products and services?

·          How are the products or services going to be delivered?

World Wide Web

WWW (World Wide Web) is a term which is given to all data which can be accessed by computers or mobiles by using a browser such as internet explorer, and that are connected to the internet.

In 1989 a group of scientists, led by Tim-Berners Lee, began working on a new branch of internet that offered a new way of linking documents or files and addressing on the Internet. They developed a HyperText Transfer Protocol referred to as (http) which is at the beginning of every website address. The protocol is a set of rules which enables documents on the internet to be linked to everyother document by using a hyperlink. Due to the use of hypertext and multimedia, the web is very easy to roam, browse and contribute to.

B2B B2C

Examples of B2B sites are ebay and Amazon. These two sites offer their users the oppurtunity to buy and sell goods, off other consumers over the net.

Examples of B2C sites are once agian ebay as it offers the opportunity for business’ to purchase goods over the net. Another example is corporate express which allows companies like councils to purchase goods over the net, and the goods are delieverd the next day.
